Jonas Beck (27) was born and raised in Amsterdam, grew up partly in Spain, and later moved back to the Netherlands. His passion for filmmaking did not start in film school but on the streets through BMX culture and documenting everyday life around him. More than ten years ago, he began making street music videos, which naturally led him into the hip hop scene.
Through his work, Jonas has always been closely connected to different cultures and communities. This cultural proximity has shaped him as a filmmaker and forms the foundation of his long standing passion for hip hop not just as a music genre but as a mindset and a way of storytelling.
He started his career within the collective Framez Productions and has been working as an independent director for the past six years. His main focus is on commercials and documentaries with occasional music videos where his hip hop roots are always present.
In his work, Jonas aims to bring a different perspective to the commercial and documentary landscape. He believes many stories are still told from a limited point of view. By staying as close as possible to the artist or main character, he strives to create work that feels honest raw and authentic.
